Just think about it. When we’re sitting on the couch and start thinking about how nice it would be to have a nice big bowl of ice cream, it won’t be long before we’ll find ourselves in the kitchen happily filling a bowl with it. And don’t forget the chocolate syrup! We may later wish we hadn’t eaten it (or maybe we didn’t!), but we did anyway. Why? We thought on it so long that we could actually see it, smell it, and eventually taste it.
What we think determines where we go and what we do. This is true in every aspect of life – from the seemingly small and meaningless, to even the supposed large and insurmountable. When we continually think about (meditate) a particular goal we want to accomplish, we follow up those thoughts with actions. This is because thoughts create a vision of our future.
The size of the vision doesn’t matter. It all works the same way. We can see ourselves with a bowl of ice cream in the next five minutes, or we can see ourselves walking across a stage in a graduation ceremony four years from now receiving a diploma. It’s all the very same. Both visions started with thoughts, and the continual meditation of those thoughts led to action.
So, the question is – what are you thinking on? Decide today to choose your thoughts on purpose so that your thinking takes you where you want to go.
